Ventura Chapter

Doug Kulper, President and Founder of the CPA/Law Society, operates the Ventura Chapter. Doug is the managing partner of Ferguson, Case, Orr, Paterson & Cunningham LLP, and is a CPA. Doug established the Westlake Village Chapter with the assistance of Scott Hansen of Bank of America Private Banking, and Maryellen Sebold of Hemming Morse. He also assembled the directors and assisted with the establishment of the Santa Barbara Chapter.

 Meeting Cost/Payment

Regular monthly meetings cost $30 for members of the CPA/Law Society of Ventura County and $40 for non-members. Special meetings, such as symposiums or scholarship awards, will be priced differently. In addition to the presentation, the price includes a full lunch, continuing professional education credit, and the opportunity to win great gift certificates and prizes. Checks may be made payable to "The CPA/Law Society of Ventura County," and paid as described below.

 Meeting Time and Location

The Pierpont Inn, located along the coastline of Ventura, is the home of the CPA/Law Society's monthly meetings. We have been at The Pierpont since 2001 and the accommodations work perfectly for our group. Meetings are typically held in the Anacapa Room, which can be expanded into two rooms and will seat up to 100. Larger meetings are held in the Pavilion Room. Please see the Calendar of Events for more information on the location and specifics of the meetings.

Regular meetings begin at noon and end promptly at 1:30 p.m.

 Lunch Choices

The Pierpont Inn offers a different menu each month with three delicious lunch entrees selected from their extensive menu. When signing up for a meeting, please indicate your preference.

Continuing Education

Accountants: 1.0 Hr CPE     Attorneys: 1.0 Hr MCLE

Each regular monthly meeting is approved for Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit by the State Bar of California in the amount of 1.0 hour. The Ventura County Bar Association certifies that this activity conforms to the standards for approved education activities prescribed by the rules and regulations of the State Bar of California governing MCLE. Additionally, this organization follows the CE requirements specified in the California Board of Accountancy Regulations. Some meetings may offer additional MCLE/CPE, or not offer continuing education credit (although rare). Please see the Calendar of Events for specific information on the meetings.

Please make your reservations and lunch selection by calling Barbara at Doug Kulper's office (805) 659-6800, or please e-mail Doug Kulper at dkulper@fcoplaw.com, at least three days prior to the meeting date. All reservations are considered "firm" on that date; late cancellations and "no shows" will be billed. Westlake Village Chapter

Maryellen Sebold is the Chair of and operates the Westlake Village Chapter. Maryellen is a Director in the Litigation Services Group in the Los Angeles office of Hemming Morse, Inc. She is a CPA and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor. Maryellen took over the reins of the Westlake Village Chapter in late 2005, and has worked hard to expand the events in the East County.

We have been at The Westlake Village Inn since 2005, and it has turned out to be a great location for our East County group. Meetings are held in various rooms based on the event.
